which really do set the car off. The paintwork is excellent with the exception of some slight surface rust to the o/s rear wheelarch as pictured and a couple of scratches to the rear bumper. The car has had some paintwork in its life but I have been all over the car and underneath the car and cannot find any evidence of previous accident damage. The interior is exceptional with original Saab overmats fitted. Nice spec including air-con, cd player, etc, etc. The car has a printed out service history up to 85000 miles. It has all the previous mot,s to confirm the mileage. Everything works, the spare wheel has never been used, the electric roof works perfectly and is in immaculate condition. The car starts and drives superbly. The only detriments to the car are, the electric aerial is broken, some of the pixels are out on the computer didplay and the driver,s interior door handle has broken, it has been repaired but requires replacement. The car has no hidden stories, it hasn,t been damaged or written off, it is just an honest straight example. The reason we are not repairing this is because we are not mechanics and dont have time. Had a new coil pack 3 months ago at a cost of over £300 and was serviced by an independant garage then as well which cost over £250. car in the year and a half we have owned it, and has never let us down.It had a personalised plate added by a previous owner J 900s JL...the car is a 1996 not a J reg...Originally the car was one of Saabs sensonic models with the computer controlled clutch, but these became unreliable after a few years, so a previous owner has it professionally converted to a regular manual gearbox set up. This doesnt cause a problem with the car with dvla as the sensonic semi auto was still classed as a manual not an auto I think.We have all the receipts for this work plus an engine rebuild a few years back...£1000`s spent.The car runs and drives nicely and is used daily by my wife to get to work. It is pretty good on fuel for a a car that is fun to drive...I have been told by a Saab specialist that the sensonic cars were tuned further by Saab, and of course this fettling still remains even though the semi auto system has gone...In honesty this has got to be probably the most comfortable car I have ever driven, the seats are just so comfortable...The car is in nice condition for its age and still looks really presentable but it is 14 yrs old so has some scratches and marks...The front bumper has a stuff on the corner, and the rear bumper has a smaller scuff...The hood has had a minor repair that hasnt leaked which is tiny and pictured next to a 10p..The electric hood works fine, but there is a problem with the latch mech that locks the rear of the roof down...Its something I have never worried about as the 2 latches can be unclipped easily by hand from in the boot and then the hood lowers and raises on the button...it just takes a couple of seconds longer to get the hood up and down.Drivers side sunvisor clip is broken so not fitted but comes with the car.Trim is nice cream leather, but there is some wear to drivers seat side bolster but doesnt notice once you are sitting in the car, and they are still very comfy...Comes with remote central locking with both fobs, 2 sets of keys, cd changer in the boot...Car is fitted with a towbar, but I cant guarantee the electrics work as have never towed with it.So there you have it a nice reliable Saab Convertible in Purple (black) with Test till march 12th 2011 tax till 31st dec 2010...Any questions please ask, viewing is recommended but please only bid to buy, you are not bidding to come and have a look...£50 deposit by Paypal within 24hrs of auction end, and the balance by cash on collection...Buy it now price £850Car is located near Leysdown on Sea, and viewing can be arranged for most evenings/weekends...Thanks for looking.. out of gears when driving. The car comes with loads of service history and hi millage that i have heard is nothing for this type of engine. As expected after 21 years some things have stopped working, the dash lights only some times come on and the heated seats have never worked since i have owned this car. the power roof still works as do the electric windows and mirrors but unfortunately the sentrol locking has stopped working, but all doors do still open with keys. there is a scratch on the roof which is not as bad as it looks as there are no leaks, which is very handy ! the drivers seat is the most worn but no rips. There are a few scratches on paint work and some little dinks as the car has mostly lived in central london, which is were the best drivers in the world are. Although i have tried to describe this car the best way i can the best way for you if you are interested in buying would be to come down and see for yourself. chillcast manual gearbox, painted in almost perfect cirrus white, it really is in time warp condition. This is the second of my saabs to go under the hammer as I really do need to downsize my collection and just keep one for myself to enjoy. The car as you can see from the photo`s is in pretty much pristine condition apart from a couple of things that could do with tidying up, notably small rust patch on bottom front of drivers wing ,very small amount of rust on the petrol flap, couple of small burn marks on drivers seat base, and usual headline sag which should be fairly straightforward to replace as it does not have the added complication of the sunroof. Everything else on the car is A1 and works as it should.The under body is in super condition,the MOT tester commented on the under body and asked if this had been waxoyled recently not knowing it was how it originally left the production line.There are no ECU`s or other jiggery pokery to go wrong as with the Turbo and Injection models. The saab is an absolute pleasure to drive and it is almost impossible to want to stop driving it once you have moved off, there are days when I just want to drive it until the petrol runs out. I have owned a number of Turbo`s in the past and can honestly say that this has been the most fun car I have ever owned or driven. A test drive and viewing is highly recommended to truly appreciate this true classic. As I have said it has what is regarded by saab enthusiasts as the best and most strongest gearbox ever produced by saab and as such this is highly sought after and very desirable. The gear change is silk smooth and the engine runs like a sewing machine and makes a beautiful throaty sound on tick over as only carb. models can, it holds the revs and pulls strong giving instant power unlike the turbo`s which suffer from lag. It has had only 2 previous owners and has just over 94000 genuine miles on the clock (but is my daily driver so mileage will increase by auction end), service history stamped in the book up to approx. 68500 miles. months old. It has been fully serviced regardless of cost at local dealership until last two which have been done at local specialist. It has been extremley well looked after and is in very good order. It is the `Aero` version which means it has 230bhp engine and lots of extras. complete grey leather with split side climate etc... . Now the reason for sale! car was sold to Brother by my Father earlier this year, he uses very rarely due to work. During his second outing in it, the car was hit while at traffic lights. This caused damage shown in pictures to n/s wing x 2 & doors x 2 all dents not really broke paint. Car was then taken to recovery yard, they treated it poorly, they took fog lights, damaged front spoiler and chipped rear bumper. The car was accepted back as CAT D, then aux. belt broke. Car is currently sat on driveway, where it has been for two months and really needs to be sold. 1997 when it had done only 19000 miles. So at the present mileage I have driven it some 88500 miles, around 6800 per year. It has had an annual service every February when the MOT has been due. A new head-lining was installed 2 years ago at a cost of £400.00. Yes, this vehicle does have some rust. A little along the botttoms of both doors and some in the boot floor. There is a slight dent in the drivers side door and some damage to the neerside rear wheel arch. The car is clean inside and the engine is excellent. This car still "turns heads" and it still performs well. A great car but a little frayed around the edges. Not surprising after 24 years of use. I am only, very reluctantly, having to part with this vehicle as I also am a "little frayed around the edges" , so having to now drive an automatic. This car will give a new owner many miles of use.
