2005 SAAB 9-3 LINEAR SPORT DT GREY
.
| Saab 9-3 Linear Sport | 120 BHP 6 speed Diesel | 203000 miles (increasing by about 700 a week) | Full service History | I bought this car 3 ½ years...>
ago as a 3 yr old ex fleet car with 92000 miles on the clock. I average 700 miles a week commuting and this car has been great. I average over 50mpg and normally get 600+ miles per tank. It has all the normal comforts – Cruise control, parking sensors, automatic climate control, CD player, remote central locking. It also has a tow bar which I used to tow my track motorbike. | I had planned to keep it to 250k miles, but a car came up I wanted to buy (the BMW in the background) so I decided to let it go early. | It comes with a boot liner (not shown in pictures) and a Haynes Manual, but the number plate will be changed back to the original 55 registration. | It has the normal stone chips, a few small bits of surface rust bubles, 4 good tyres although one of the front ones will need changing in the next few thousand miles. Tax and MOT until December 2012. | Service History | 6 miles – Pre delivery – 28/10/2005 | 18362 miles – 2/6/2006 – Bell & Coleville Saab | 35981 miles – 1/12/2006 – Bell & Coleville Saab | 54170 miles – 25/05/2007 – Bell & Coleville Saab | 72332 miles – 16/11/2007 – Bell & Coleville Saab | 90581 miles – 3/10/2008 – Bell & Coleville Saab | 108808 miles – 9/7/2009 – Perry & Prouse Saab Specialist | 126369 miles – 6/1/2010 – Perry & Prouse Saab Specialist | 143342 miles – 27/7/2010 – Perry & Prouse Saab Specialist | 163147 miles – 8/3/2011 – JamSaab | 184611 miles – 27/10/2011 – JamSaab | 198191 miles – 27/3/2012 – JamSaab | I replaced the duel mass flywheel and clutch in July 2011 and all 4 discs and pads were changed between September and October 2011. | The cam belt has been changed twice now, and it’s due again at the next service (in 12000 miles time). To give you an idea, a normal service with JamSaab in Bristol costs £230 and the service with the cam belt change (including the water pump) was £501 with Perry & Prouse in Taunton. | I know this car has very high mileage, but the reserve price is very low and this is a lot of car for the money. | Winning bidder must pay £100 via PayPal within 24 hours and the rest in case on collection. | X

.
2006(56)SAAB 9-3LINEAR SPORTTIDDIESELWelcome to my auction here I have for sale a 2006 Saab 9-3 that looks and drives as if its done half its mileage....>
The speedo will need attention as it has just stopped working this week, We have owned the car for just under 2 yrs and has`nt cost us a penny apart from wear and tear items until now with the speedo issue, there is a slight noise coming from the flywheel but this has been here since we have had the car and has`nt been an issue. I am listing the car with NO RESERVE so it is on here to sell, The mot is short but I am willing to put a 12 months mot on the car for a extra £200 to cover my time and cost so that i`m not out of pocket but I will need a £100 deposit before I go ahead and do this. Please DO NOT bid unless you are willing to buy but I would recommend viewing the car before hand so you know what you are buying as this car is a very clean example not like the usual high mileage rubbish that you get out there. Please feel free to contact me for anymore details X

Driver's seat rake adjuster broke.Front wheel bearing needed replacing.Indicators and wipers failed at the same time.Mystery loss of the aircon on one occasion.Annoying buzz from interior light fitting. When I first got it, an annoying hesitation under full acceleration.Windscreen wipers always wore out very quickly and scraped across the screen.Front passenger interior door handle wouldn't open the door. General comments? Despite the above, my Saab 9-5 was mechanically reliable and never failed to start nor did it actually let me down.Where Saab need to improve the next model massively is interior fixtures and fittings. Although mechanically robust, the interior just isn't built well enough, and mine was the facelifted model!Examples are the electric mirror switch is directly descended from the Cavalier, and looks positively ancient and isn't fitted well. Also several annoying interior buzzes from various fittings, as above a door handle breaking and a seat adjuster breaking, and just a general feeling of plasticky, old school design.GM need to up their game considerably on this front if they want to stay in the prestige saloon car class. On the plus side, the big Saab had a fantastic ride quality. Mine only rode on 16" wheels which I'm sure helped. They are very comfy for long trips, cruising at 100mph quietly and confidently. My wife and I sometimes got backaches after very long trips, but that's all.Handling is reasonable for a big front wheel drive car, although I can see torque steer being a problem for the more powerful models. Mine was only the 150bhp version; I have got to say it always felt like it had more power up front than 150 horses, probably thanks to the turbo. On the subject of performance; my main criticism is that this car has incredibly long gearing, which meant in 5th at motorway speeds it wasn't sometimes as responsive as I'd have liked. Otherwise it is very smooth and efficient, with mpg of around 32-33 (OK for such a large car).I would've liked cruise control and a better stereo as standard. I also found the black cloth seats pretty oppressive and showed the dirt too much. I believe they now do a Linear Sport or something as a base model, which addresses these issues. To sum up, the 9-5 is generally an efficient if slightly boring car in Linear trim, but overall is very dated now compared to the competition and desperately needs a new model bringing out.Oh, and why are they all gunmetal grey? Advantages: Comfortable and good control. (Great safety.)Disadvantages: Not as good for money This is an Estate car. They are about £22,000 new or £16,000 for a 2nd hand 10,000 milage car. It has many features such as cruise control and SIPS (Side Impact Protection Safety.) Sweden, (from my point of view) make excellent quality cars. You can get bottom warmers installed but that is a tiny bit more expensive. The 9-5 2.0t, is a very powerful car, and before we bought it, we pushed it to the limits, and it did very well. It's gearbox is full ......Inner design is not over the top (OTT), it is an executive style. It is about 1.20metres high and a bit longer width and lenght than usual estate cars. I had a Vectra before and expected to miss it, not a bit of it. Though the Saab hasn't got the koudos of a BMW or a Merc nor the street cred of the new Lexus or Jag I am more than happy driving it. A round trip of 110 miles 5 days a week and the miles start to add up. The first 15000 have been entirely trouble free. The ride is smooth the gearbox refined and the engine responsive,I am very confident ......tried snow yet). As stated it is a company car so I've no idea about service/parts costs sorry. My only niggle and it is petty is the air con turns off with the ignition but doesn't turn on with the ignition. I have been driving a new Saab 95 2.0t estate for several weeks now as a replacement for my Audi A4 which is in the garage for repairs with no estimated fix time (but that is the subject of another review). However, being an Audi owner gives be a good basis for comparison. What I have to say is that this car is a dream to drive. From the moment you sit in the driving seat and the 'fasten seatbelts' sign starts flashing overhead you begin to appreciate that Saab also build planes. The car oozes style and great design and when you turn on the engine and go the pleasure continues. The model I have is an automatic but even though it is an estate it is still fast. We had come by some money, and found that we couldn't find a car that was big enough to accommodate all 5 of us (including one fairly tall family member - not *very* tall, but too tall for most car manufacturers to build cars to suit - AND one fairly short member [the few cars large enough to accommodate Member 1 are completely unsuitable for Member 2]). So we decided to look at the cars we had been avoiding due to their traditional high cost. We ended up getting a special deal on a Saab 9-5 Estate. It was good. The leather seats were very comfortable, the drive was excellent, the audio system played very well, the design was sleek, the boot was plenty big enough, the trim was good. You could check autos.msn.com (or other numerous sources of car information) and you can get all of the information on engines per model that you want. You can find out exactly which engine is in each model of any manufacturer. It is not difficult to do your own research!!! So instead of taking the lazy way out, do your own work and you will be pleasantly suprised at how much good information you can find out on your own. Additionally, you will not have to worry about the biased opinions that people have on a forum of their car. Give it a try... and ... Good luck. I love the midrange acceleration of my 2.0T though because, where I drive, there are a lot of short passing zones on 2-lane roads, and a lot of slow drivers. And I still average around 27.5 mpg in all-around driving, and up to 36 mpg on the highway. You would never regret getting the 2.0T. I also chose to get an Arc over a Vector/Aero because I didn't want the lowered suspension because I do a lot of driving in deep snow which, I hear, causes a lot of broken front air dams on Vectors and Aeros. I also wanted the softer ride for our chuck-holed roads. saabyurk View Public Profile Find all posts by saabyurk #10 21-02-08, 01:26 PM brunp Saab Lunatic Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Ottawa, Canada My Saabs: none Posts: 2,603 I have had a 2.0t Linear (BSR'd about a year into leasing the car) and now have an AERO. If you are looking at a used 2.0t, they are a great value, but the suspension is not as tight and the brakes are smaller then the 2.0T cousins. If you are looking for a pretty good car and want to tune it, then the 2.0t is the biggest bang for your buck. The 2.0T (Arc/Vector and AERO) variants differ in fit and finish. That is it. Good question, I've noticed others complaining about low mileage. I can add 3 things about my driving that might make a difference. One, when I say highway, I'm referring to driving 2-lane roads at about 60 mph. I'm not sure what I get at freeway speeds. Two, I have a 5-speed, and except for the occasional burst for the fun of it, I drive easy with mileage in mind (but I do accelerate quickly---open throttle plate equals low pumping losses). The 5-speed may help on long downhill runs because I can leave it in 5th and the car will still maintain its speed with my foot off the throttle. In this situation, with the engine being "overdriven", the injectors are turned off by the Trionic system (infinite mpg). I don't think an automatic will push the engine enough do that. Three, my car seems sensitive to gasoline brand. I'm now using only Shell V-Power 93 octane (only toptiergas.com gasoline in the area) to keep deposits from forming. I've found most times I switch brands, the mileage drops significantly during the first half tank or so. It's like the Trionic system "learns" the gas you're using and it's best to stick with one brand. Of course, these are just ramblings in my old mind, and I may not know what I'm talking about. saabyurk View Public Profile Find all posts by saabyurk #13 21-02-08, 03:21 PM Me! SaabNut! By the end of the weekend, I was missing my 2.0t. I found the 2.0T to be stiffer and to tend to dart over the road, but unsure if the tires (Pirelli) had more to do with that than the stiffer suspension. Both were autos. I found the 2.0T to pull stronger at all speeds. More drama, sure, but I like the silkiness of the 2.0t. In my younger days I would have gone for the bigger engine simply because it was there. All in all, I prefer the 2.0t. It is smoother both is ride and engine response as well as getting better mileage. Unless one is a damn idiot or a wanna-be racer, the extra power of the 2.0T doesn't factor in much and the harsher ride of the 2.0T got old real quick. Its fast, great gas mileage and its FAST! I recently did some maintenence at the Saab dealership, and my receipt labeled my car as an aero. My question is, can my car be an aero? And is there a difference between a 2.0T and a 2.0t. I love my saab, no problems, great mileage and its very quick! loveMYsaab123 View Public Profile Find all posts by loveMYsaab123 #19 03-09-10, 07:30 PM jim808 Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Honolulu My Saabs: 2007 9-3 Aero VTuned Stage 0 Posts: 213 Quote: Originally Posted by loveMYsaab123 I bought a 2007 2.0T and let me start off by saying I love it. Since you have a 2007, if you have an Aero then you'll have the v6 + dual exhausts. jim808 View Public Profile Find all posts by jim808 #20 03-09-10, 07:30 PM stevedol Super Moderator Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: wiltshire, england My Saabs: MY08 9-3 Aero 2.0T Convertible Posts: 1,855 Quote: Originally Posted by loveMYsaab123 I bought a 2007 2.0T and let me start off by saying I love it. From 2006-2009 the only engine in an Aero in the US was the 2.8 V6, I believe. Prior to 2006 the Aero had the 2.0T 210BHP engine. From 2006, the cars with the 2.0T engine were badged as such, as yours is. As for difference between the 2.0T and 2.0t, the big 'T' is the more powerful engine with a larger turbo and higher BHP (210BHP). The 2.0t, smaller turbo and 175BHP. as an addition, from 2010, the 2.8V6 has been dropped and the 2.0T is now an Aero again __________________ 2000 93 SE convertible - bought 2003 - traded in 2004 for 2003 93SS Aero - bought 2004 - traded in 2007 for 2006 93Sportcombi diesel MY07 - bought 2007 - Hirsched, stage1 175BHP, pedals & dual exhaust, Kenwood DNX5220 multimedia satnav - traded in 2010 for, 2007 93convertible MY08 - bought 2010 2.5yrs old stevedol View Public Profile Find all posts by stevedol Page 1 of 2 1 2 > Bookmarks Digg del.icio.us StumbleUpon Google « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off Forum Rules Forum Jump All times are GMT.
